GW21 Match Centre (Part 2)

With Steven Gerrard and Stewart Downing on form in midfield providing the ammunition for Suarez to pull the trigger Liverpool are firing on all cylinders in another great performance and 3 goal victory.  Nothing more to add.

A cracking game this, with both sides creating a decent number of chances.  Leighton Baines in particular was in top, top form and his free kick was a beauty!  Fellaini marked his return winning the foul and an assist for Baines' goal.  With Demba Ba holding talks with Chelsea last years fantasy superstar led the line for Newcastle and was given a fair share of the home team's chances for a change. Will be interesting to see how his season changes from now. Marveaux is also a nice new budget option in midfield.

QPR didn't really play a traditional centre forward here, with Mackie, Taarabt and Hoilett all deployed in advanced midfield positions.  Explains why there were so few quality shots.  Chelsea's shooting stats suggest the nature of this match - lots of possession on the edge of QPR's penalty area but without much penetration from the home team with defenders/ midfielders in Luiz  and Ivanovic having more shots than striker Torres.

Check out Part One for the rest of the games.
